Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has triggered a major row with his alleged anti-Hindu remarks made on Tuesday. Speaking at the executive meeting of the ruling Congress in Hyderabad, Reddy drew an analogy with multiple Hindu deities while stating that the Congress party takes everyone along.
The Telangana Chief Minister said Hindu devotees worship many gods. “How many gods are there for Hindus? Three crores? There is Hanuman for those who are not married. There is another god for those who marry twice. There is one god for those who drink alcohol; there are people who offer alcohol and chicken to Yellamma, Pochamma, Maisamma,” Reddy said.
He added that at certain events, toddy and non-vegetarian food are served to local deities, while there are also gods who are worshipped by those who eat ‘dal rice’.
The Telangana leader sought to suggest like the Hindu religion has multiple deities, the Congress party too takes all types of individuals along.
“One says he will worship Lord Venkateswara, another says he will worship Hanuman. When we could not bring consensus on gods, I don’t think we can have consensus on political leaders and (District Congress Committee) presidents,” he said.
While Reddy was commenting in relation to the appointment of new DCC chiefs, which has triggered unease within the party, his bid to draw an analogy with Hindu gods has led to a massive controversy.
Strongly condemn the comments made by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy insulting Hindus and Hindu deities. The Congress has always been a party that bends before the AIMIM. Revanth Reddy himself said Congress is a Muslim party – that statement alone exposes their mindset. Congress… pic.x.com/E1yhVrNBy3

BJP slams Revanth Reddy over Hindu gods remarks
The BJP has slammed the Telangana CM and said the Congress party will have to face consequences for his remarks.
BJP MP Sambit Patra told reporters, “Today, the Congress party’s and Maulana Madani’s words sound alike. The kind of words Telanagana CM Revanth Reddy has used for Hindu gods and goddesses is not only condemnable but also despicable. It shows the poison they have against Hindus…The Congress will have to face consequences for this.”
Union Minister and BJP leader Pralhad Joshi said it had become a habit of the Congress party to insult Hindus and their gods. “Insulting Hindus has become a habit of the Congress and their allies. Did only one community vote for the Chief Minister of Telangana? Mocking Hindu religion and Hindu faiths has become their habit,” Joshi said.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh also slammed Reddy, stating he should declare the Congress party ‘Muslim League Congress Party’. “The Congress party has started a campaign against Hindus. Whoever says things like this neither believes in India’s Constitution nor has anything to do with India’s culture. That person’s emotions are aligned with those of the Mughal invaders… Revanth Reddy should declare the Congress party as the Muslim League Congress Party.”
