The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has clearly voiced its disappointment with the Union Budget 2018-19, which was presented on the first day of the month by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, and in the latest reports, the party has decided to raise the issue in Parliament.

TDP is a key ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party and it is upset over “injustice” to Andhra Pradesh in Budget 2018.

The state Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N. Chandrababu Naidu asked his party MPs to pressurise the BJP-led NDA government to undo the injustice.

Earlier, it was speculated that the TDP will decide about the party’s ties with its ally BJP in the TDP Parliamentary Board meeting.

At the meeting, Naidu said the party would begin its fight by raising the issue in Parliament, sources revealed. He made it clear that this was only the first step. He added that the party’s next course of action would depend on the response of the Modi government.

Union Budget and the Centre’s failure to address the pending issues of the state were broadly discussed at the meet.

Some TDP leaders suggested that both the central ministers of the TDP should quit to put pressure on the BJP. Naidu, however, said the party should first raise the issue in Parliament.

TDP leader and Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Y. Sujana Chowdhary told reporters that for the TDP the state’s interests were more important than the alliance with the BJP.

On Saturday, 27 January, Naidu had spoken clearly about the alliance with the BJP as he asserted that if the latter is not keen on the alliance; his party will chart its own course.
