Tata Power Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) continues to strengthen its comprehensive operational framework to ensure grid network stability and power reliability across Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts.

Addressing the challenges of extreme heat waves and Kalbaisakhi (nor’wester) weather patterns, the organization has intensified its integrated preventive maintenance and technological oversight to manage a projected peak seasonal demand of 1,805 MW.

This sustained infrastructure modernization initiative is built upon the deployment of high-precision diagnostic tools, including infrared thermography, health indexing, drone-based aerial audits, and ultrasound scanning, to proactively mitigate network vulnerabilities.

These technical interventions are part of an ongoing, large-scale maintenance rollout encompassing 913 11-kV feeders and 113 33-kV feeders. The systematic overhaul of 567 power transformers, the maintenance of over 13,000 distribution transformers (63 kVA and above), and the upgradation of conductors on 14.9 ckm of 33-kV and 78.7 ckm of 11-kV lines serve to enhance network stability and overall power reliability.

Operational efficiency is further bolstered by a dedicated workforce of over 7,000 personnel, comprising TPNODL officials and employees of business associates, ensuring around-the-clock monitoring and rapid restoration capabilities.

Additionally, TPNODL has strategically positioned equipment reserves at the division-level and remains focused on prioritizing seamless power supply to critical healthcare facilities, including District HQ Hospitals and Community Health Centres, in close coordination with the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority for needs.

Gajanan Kale, Chief of Odisha Distribution Business and CEO, TPNODL stated that the company’s commitment to delivering quality and reliable power is a sustained, year-round effort rather than a reactive measure. He emphasized that advanced technology and rigorous maintenance protocols have optimized the distribution network to absorb increasing demand. He further stated that this proactive approach reflects the company’s focus on operational excellence and service stewardship, with consumer satisfaction and network safety as top priorities during peak summer months.
