Describing Tamil Nadu as a distinct place of its own, Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin on Friday said communal harmony and peace in the state are what rankle the BJP the most, but the saffron party’s attempts at getting a foothold in the Dravidian land would remain a pipe dream so long as he is there.
“Within India, Tamil Nadu is a place of its own. It stands for equal treatment of all religions, and there is no place for orchestrating religious violence as it is happening in other states. Communal harmony in the state is what rankles the BJP. The people of Tamil Nadu will chase away the Parivar, even if they come with many more slaves, and so long as this Stalin is there, your attempts at gaining a foothold will never succeed,” the Chief Minister said at a government function at Kallakurichi, after inaugurating completed projects and laying the foundation for new ones in the district.
“If the iconic schemes and developmental programmes of the Dravidian Model Government stand for developed India, there is another India, reeling under poverty, communal violence, mob lynching, attempts at destroying education, and unemployment. The latter is the India of the BJP,” he said, asserting, “The verdict of the electorate in the 2026 assembly election will be the crowning glory for the achievements of the DMK government.”
“The BJP government has created a situation where the differently abled and children are being attacked even on Christmas Day. And they are trying to bring that model here as well. But our people are very much conscious of this. Devotees of Lord Murugan continue to worship the flag hoisted at the Sikkandar Badusha Dargah atop the Thiruparankundram hillock (at the foothills is a famed temple of Murugan). Muslim brethren at Masjids offer rose milk to the Hindu devotees swarming Madurai for the Chithirai festival (Visit of Kallazhagar – Vishnu – to the city and the celestial wedding of Meenakshi with Sundareswarar). Christians celebrate Pongal festival on the first day of the Tamil month ‘Thai’ by cooking Pongal at churches,” he said, adding, “For Christmas and Ramadan, Hindu friends would ask where is the cake? Where is biryani?”
“It is this unity that continues to rankle the BJP, bent upon creating divisiveness among the people through communal hatred. They might perform somersaults but cannot instigate religious hatred among the people living in harmony. So long as our Dravidian model government is there, you cannot succeed in orchestrating communal violence. The people of Tamil Nadu will chase you away with their votes. Whatever may be your designs and theatrics, your ambition will never fructify,” he made it clear.
Turning his ire at the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the Chief Minister said, “Many deceased are still in the voter list. Many who have lived in the same address for over half a century, including prominent journalists, have been excluded from the Draft Voter List. That is why we were opposed to the SIR being carried out in a haphazard manner,” he said and asked those whose names have been left out in the draft voter list to apply immediately to get enrolled. Further, he assured that the DMK and the Dravidian Model Government will stand by the people to protect the right to vote of everyone and India’s democracy.
