A meaningful discussion on the SYL (Sutlej-Yamuna Link) issue was held in a cordial atmosphere under the chairmanship of Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil, between the Chief Ministers of Haryana and Punjab, in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Union Secretary Debashree Mukherjee, Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, Additional Chief Secretary of the Irrigation and Water Resources Department Anurag Aggarwal, along with several senior officials from the Irrigation Department, were present at the meeting.
It was decided that the next meeting will be held on August 5.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Chief Minister Saini said meaningful discussions had taken place. He stated that the chief minister of Punjab also acknowledged the need to resolve this long-pending issue.
Saini expressed the confidence that a positive outcome will be achieved. He emphasized that Punjab and Haryana are like brothers and continue to share mutual respect and harmony.
The upcoming discussions in the next meeting are expected to lead to a better solution and yield positive results, he added.
