A visibly annoyed External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday lashed out at the Congress for its sharp criticism of the foreign policy pursued by the Narendra Modi government during its four years’ in office.

She was particularly peeved at the main Opposition party’s comment that the country’s foreign policy was being run from the PMO and her own ministry was dealing only with social media platforms like twitter.

‘’If I am not handling the foreign ministry or I don’t know anything about the foreign policy, how would I respond to your questions,’’ she asked media-persons at her press conference organised to highlight the achievements of the Modi government on the foreign policy front.

She said she was proud of what the country had achieved through her ‘twitter diplomacy’. In this connection, she noted that she had been able to help Indians in distress across the globe through her twitter handle. She said she has been a member of the Lok Sabha several times and could relate herself with the pain and problems of the people. ‘’Let them (Congress) joke, they will realise their folly when one of their near and dear ones gets trapped (abroad),’’ she added.

The Congress recently charged that the Modi government had pursued a policy of ‘flip-flop’ on Pakistan, sought to strengthen ties with China despite last year’s military stand-off at Doklam and failed to deepen ties with Russia, India’s time-tested friend.
