This Ram Navami too, the sun’s rays will anoint Ram Lalla at the Ram temple. The Ram Mandir Trust has begun preparations for this mega event to be held on March 26.
Besides, the Ram Navami fair will be held from March 19 to March 26 in Ayodhya when around 2.5 million devotees are expected to participate.
Ram Temple Trust said sources here on Sunday that the main festival of Ram Navami, Ram Janmotsav, will be celebrated on March 26, and Ram Lalla will also be anointed with Surya Tilak at around noon.
The tradition of Surya Tilak was started after the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla on January 22, 2024. The first Surya Tilak took place on Ram Janmotsav in 2024. This tradition was repeated in 2025, and now preparations have begun to make this year’s Ram Janmotsav historic.
A nine-day ritual will also be held at the Ram Temple on Ram Janmotsav. At exactly 12 noon on the day of Ram Janmotsav, at the same time as Ram Lalla’s symbolic birth, the sun’s rays will anoint Ram Lalla.
An opto-mechanical system of four lenses and four mirrors developed by CBRI, Roorkee, will direct the sun’s rays directly onto Ram Lalla’s forehead.
A team of scientists will arrive in Ayodhya by March 10and conduct a trial of the Surya Tilak. Using lenses and mirrors, the sun’s rays will be directed from the third floor to the sanctum sanctorum. The Surya Tilak will remain illuminated for approximately 3 to 4 minutes. Plans are also underway to broadcast the entire event live.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has signed a 10-year contract with CBRI, Roorkee for this project.
Meanwhile, preparations for the Ramotsav, to be organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad ( VHP), have also begun.
The (VHP) will celebrate the Mahotsav program across the country, starting on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, March 19. During this special 15-day program, the VHP will reach six lakh villages across the country. Ram devotees who played any role in the journey from the Ram Mandir movement to the temple’s construction will be honored at the Ramotsav program. Shri Ram Mahotsav programs will continue throughout Navratri. On the days when a particular goddess is worshipped, the Ramotsav program will provide information about the powers of that particular goddess. People will also be made aware of the relevance of these goddess’s powers in current society and how they should be adopted in their lives.
