Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar has written a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis demanding that corporators of the Ajit Pawar-founded NCP must get an equal amount of development funds for their wards, as much as BJP corporators receive.
According to sources, she wrote to Chief Minister Fadnavis demanding equal development funds after it came to light that each ruling BJP corporator in the Pune Municipal Corporation received Rs 7 crore to develop their municipal wards, while corporators from her party received only Rs 5 crore each from the municipal budget.
In her letter to Chief Minister Fadnavis, she appealed that development funds must be disbursed based on PM Modi’s principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”, without any political biases, preferential treatment or discrimination.
In her letter to Fadnavis, Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar also demanded that all wards in Pune city should get equal development funds without giving preferential treatment to any one part of the city.
She emphasised in her letter to the Chief Minister that if any ward gets a skewed amount of funds, citizens of those areas may be deprived of basic amenities.
“In accordance with the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, it is requested that appropriate instructions be given to the concerned parties so that all corporators, former corporators and public representatives of the BJP as well as the NCP are allocated equal funds for their wards,” Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar stated in her letter to Fadnavis.
The issue was raised by corporators from Sunetra Pawar’s party while representations were made for funds from local office-bearers for the empowerment of civic amenities in Pune city.
“Today, we are working together as a ‘Mahayuti’ at the state level and the central government level. To achieve the overall development of the city, it is necessary to allocate funds by taking all public representatives of the ruling party and allied parties into confidence. Basic needs like water supply, drainage lines, road development and street lights are beyond political party boundaries,” Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar stated in her letter to Fadnavis.
