The Indian Youth Congress staged a protest in the national capital on Tuesday demanding justice for 26-year-old Anandu Aji from Kerala, who was found dead in Thiruvananthapuram last week.
During the protest rally, protesters demanded an investigation into the allegations that he had made against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
According to the reports, Aji was found dead at a lodge in Thampanoor on Thursday. The following day, a scheduled Instagram post appeared on his account, in which he allegedly blamed the RSS for his death and accused a man close to his family of sexually abusing him since childhood.
On Monday, the RSS called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the ‘unnatural death’ of the IT professional as well as the alleged suicide note that surfaced on social media.
Meanwhile, the protest rally, led by IYC national president Uday Bhanu Chib, commenced from the IYC headquarters and proceeded towards Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road. According to an official statement, the Delhi Police stopped the demonstrators midway and detained several IYC workers.
National General Secretary Khushboo Sharma, National Secretary Satyawan Gehlot, Delhi Youth Congress President Akshay Lakra, and Haryana Youth Congress President Nishit Kataria also took part in the protest rally.
Chib accused the RSS of having “become a den of exploitation’ and called for a fair investigation into Aji’s death. “Aji’s final social media post is a plea for justice. The FIR must name the RSS, as he did. The truth must be uncovered, and the responsible parties held accountable,” he stated in his post on social media.
According to the IYC, Aji’s suicide was a consequence of long-term sexual abuse and harassment at RSS camps.
“We want justice not only for Anandu but also for every child who has faced such trauma,” Chib asserted, demanding a Central probe into the matter.
