Army chief Gen. Bipin Rawat met students from two northeast states on Tuesday and encouraged them to join the armed forces and serve the cause of the nation.

Talking to the National Integration Tour for 27 students from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, Rawat brought out the importance of national integration and shared his experiences from the northeastern region. He motivated them to work hard and contribute actively in the nation building process.

The students were accompanied by two teachers.

The tour was flagged off from Assam’s Joypur on December 26 and during the course of the tour, participants have visited various cultural and historical places in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.

This initiative exposes them to various career options and allows them to interact with prominent personalities.

The National Integration Tours are organised as part of the Indian Army’s ongoing outreach programme to foster the spirit of Nation First.

These tours are conducted for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir and northeastern states, with an aim to provide an insight into the rich heritage of the country as well as various developmental and industry initiatives that are underway.
