In a breakthrough against organised crime, the Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana has secured the deportation of alleged gangster associate Dinesh alias Mittu from Cyprus. The accused was brought back to India on June 12, marking the 11th deportation or extradition secured by STF Haryana in 2026.
Dinesh, 29, a resident of Khairampur village in Hisar district, is alleged to be associated with the Kala Khairampur Gang and the Himanshu Bhau Gang, both of which have been linked to several serious criminal activities, including murder, attempted murder, extortion, targeted killings, and illegal use of firearms across Haryana and neighbouring states.
According to STF officials, preliminary investigations revealed that Dinesh had been operating from Cyprus and was allegedly facilitating extortion activities through illegal “Dabba Calling” networks. These communication channels were reportedly used to conceal the identities and locations of gang members and overseas-based criminals while coordinating extortion and other organised criminal activities.
Investigators said Dinesh also played a key role in expanding the gang’s network by recruiting new members and acting as a link between gang leaders and operatives on the ground. Authorities believe he helped coordinate criminal activities at the direction of gang leadership.
The STF said his custodial interrogation will focus on identifying his overseas associates, uncovering the extent of his criminal network, and establishing his involvement in extortion and other organised crime cases.
Officials further stated that Dinesh was one of the alleged conspirators in the 2024 firing incident at a Mahindra showroom in Hisar, which was linked to an extortion attempt. An open-dated arrest warrant had been issued against him in connection with the case registered at City Police Station, Hisar.
The investigation revealed that Dinesh fled India in 2020 and had been residing in Cyprus using a passport issued in his own name. To facilitate his return, STF Haryana initiated multiple legal and international measures, including the issuance of Look Out Circulars and the processing of an Interpol Red Corner Notice through Bharatpol.
Following inputs received through international law enforcement channels regarding his presence in Cyprus, deportation proceedings were initiated, ultimately leading to his return to India.
The STF highlighted that it has secured the deportation or extradition of 11 gangsters and gang associates so far this year. These include members linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi-Randeep Malik Gang, Rohit Godara Gang, Himanshu Bhau Gang, Bhuppi Rana Gang, Kaushal Gang, and other organised criminal networks.
Describing the operation as a significant success in its campaign against organised crime, STF Haryana reiterated its commitment to tracing, apprehending, and bringing fugitive offenders to justice through close coordination with national and international law enforcement agencies.
