Police conducted raids in connection with the shootout at the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital shootout and 5 suspects have been arrested, according to the reports. It is believed that these people aided the escape of Pakistani militant Naveed Jutt alias Abu Hanzalla from police custody.

A police official claimed that that a special team from Srinagar raided a couple of houses in different hamlets of Kakapora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district late last night.

Meanwhile, the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has claimed the responsibility for attack at the SMHS hospital in Srinagar on Tuesday in which two policemen were killed and a Pakistani terrorist escaped from police custody. LeT chief Mahmood Shah owned up the attack in an emailed statement.

A Pakistani terrorist, Naveed alias Abu Hanzala, managed to escape from the hospital where he was brought for treatment.

If the media reports are to be believed, police believe that there is a strong possibility that Naveed fled towards South Kashmir.
