A speeding truck entered a no-entry zone, apparently due to brake failure, and rammed into vehicles and pedestrians, resulting in the death of three people and injuries to more than a dozen at Indore in Madhya Pradesh.

MP Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the late Monday incident and also visited Indore on Tuesday to meet the injured persons admitted in different hospitals. The CM instructed Indore Collector Shivam Verma to ensure all necessary treatment for the injured.

The CM also directed the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department to get a thorough inquiry conducted into the incident.

According to police, the truck sped into the super corridor on the airport road at around 10.30 pm. This is a no-entry zone for heavy vehicles till 11 pm. It is suspected that the truck’s brakes failed, and the driver lost control of the heavy vehicle.

Two people died on the spot, while a third succumbed to injuries during treatment. The truck also caught fire after it finally came to a halt, as two motorcycles got stuck under it, and the resulting sparks caused the fire.

According to DCP Krishna Lalchandani, the truck driver has been arrested, and further investigations are on.
