Spanish rider Adria Noguera was crowned as the winner of eight-stage MTB Himalaya mountain biking rally in Himachal Pradesh stage, which is considered one of the toughest in the world.

Riding from Scott Bikes team, Noguera took a total time of 27:41:12 to finish the 650-km race with off-road tracks.

Thomas Engelsgjerd from Norway stood second by finishing the race in 27:58:29.

David Kumar finished in the top 10 riders beating his close competitor Isaac Rai riding from Shashastra Seema Bal team. David is based in Shimla and operates a bike store.

Only 61 riders were able to make it to the end out of 92 participants, clearly suggesting that the race is one of the toughest in the world.

The race has been taking place for 13 years and is supported by Hero Cycles and HP Tourism Department. The ultimate stage, leading to the land of his holiness Dalai Lama, created a unique sense of accomplishment among riders. The diversity of the race days and the memories of riding over 10,000 ft passes, across open ridge lines and through the depths of India is what makes this experience an unforgettable one.

The day started from the Palampur Agriculture University, took riders 56 kms into the woods, through the forests with the maximum elevation of 1735 m, directing them to their final destination.

The Prize distribution ceremony for the event took place in Dharamshala where Lt Gen SK Saini, YSM, VSM Corps Commander, HQ 9 Corps and Pankaj Munjal, MD and CEO of Hero Cycles facilitated the winners.

Considered to be one of the toughest of all other cross country races around the world, the race passed through the boundaries of the Great Himalayan National Park which is one of the biggest national parks in India and is located in the Kullu region.

The rally crossed throug Shimla, Gadagufar, Narkanda, Luhri, Swad, Jalhori, Jyot, Gadagushaini, Jhanjeli, Mandi, Barot and Dharamshala.
