The Jharkhand government has moved ahead with plans to establish a residential school for children of police personnel and other uniformed services. Chief Minister Hemant Soren reviewed the proposed project at the Jaguar campus in Ranchi on Monday.

The proposed Dishom Guru Shibu Soren Residential School will offer education from Classes 1 to 12, prioritizing children of police personnel killed in the line of duty, as well as those serving in the police, Army and Central Paramilitary Forces.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that the detailed project report (DPR) has been prepared, while land identification at the Jaguar campus is underway. He directed officials to expedite the process and ensure timely execution.

The school is envisioned as a model institution focusing on quality education and modern infrastructure. It will include smart classrooms, an ICT lab, library, playground and other co-curricular facilities. Residential arrangements are also planned, with separate hostels for students, particularly from Classes 6 to 12.

Emphasising the government’s commitment, the Chief Minister said providing quality education to children of security personnel, especially those who lost their lives in the line of duty, remains a priority. He directed that the institution meet standards comparable to other “excellent schools” in the state.

In a related development, the meeting also reviewed a proposal to set up a hospital for police families at JAP-10 in Hotwar, Ranchi.

The facility is planned under the public-private partnership (PPP) mode, with an initial capacity of 50 beds, expandable to 100 beds. The Chief Minister directed that modern medical facilities and specialist doctors be provided.
