Congress chief Sonia Gandhi has called an all-party meet on Friday and has also extended an invite to Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav to chalk out a strategy against the Modi government.

The meeting of 18 opposition parties, chaired by Sonia Gandhi, will take place at 4.30 pm on the last day of Parliament's monsoon session.

The all-party meet is likely to discuss the opposition rally called by RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav in Patna on 27 August to target the newly-formed BJP-JD(U) alliance in Bihar.

Sharad Yadav who has had a fall out with party chief Nitish Kumar for joining hands with the BJP in Bihar is organising a conclave in New Delhi on 17 August, which will be attended by opposition leaders.

Currently on a three-day visit to Bihar, Sharad Yadav on Thursday slammed Nitish for quitting the Grand Alliance of the RJD and Congress in Bihar and forming a new government with the BJP.

While ambiguity remains over Sharad Yadav’s future in the JD(U), a day after he declared that he was still with the Grand Alliance, senior party leader KC Tyagi accused Sonia Gandhi of deepening the rift between the two leaders.
