The central government’s “smart border” project is in the final stage, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Friday, June 5.
Addressing the BSF personnel at Lankamura Border Outpost in Tripura, Shah informed that the new security grid will be featuring cutting-edge tech, local administration and border sentinels, PTI reported.
The government will build smart borders wherever troops of the force are deployed, he added.
“Smart borders will be introduced soon with a new security grid to include cutting-edge tech, local administration and border sentinels,” the Union Home Minister noted.
Further, he shared that the concept of smart border will get implemented at seven to eight places in the country as a pilot project.
“I request the Union Home Secretary and the Director General of the BSF to visit border areas, and hold talks,” Shah said.
Highlighting that every border has its own challenges, ranging from drug supply to arms smuggling and human trafficking, Shah stated that the BSF personnel “do their best” to take on such challenge.
“To make India a ‘viksit’ (developed) nation by 2047, we have to stop the entry of fake notes, human trafficking and drugs smuggling from across the borders,” he said.
