Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVN) has been conferred the second prize in the prestigious Swachhta Pakhwada Awards 2025 by the Ministry of Power, Government of India.
The award was presented by Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Power, to Bhupender Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of SJVN, at a ceremony held in New Delhi on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhupender Gupta said the recognition reflects SJVN’s outstanding performance during the nationwide programme ‘Swachhta Pakhwada 2025’.
He emphasized that the “structured action plans and impactful initiatives carried out across the company’s projects” and units have brought about positive and lasting change in society.
The Swachhta Pakhwada Awards are presented annually to Power CPSEs for exemplary contributions towards the Swachh Bharat Mission during the fortnight-long observance held from May 16 to May 31, 2025. Winners are evaluated on parameters such as awareness generation and sustainable cleanliness initiatives.
This year, following a rigorous assessment,Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL)secured the first prize, SJVN the second, and National Hydroelectric Power CorporaTION LIMITED (nHPC) the third.
Since the inception of these awards, SJVN has demonstrated consistent excellence, winning four First Prizes—including three consecutive wins—and two second prizes.
During Swachhta Pakhwada 2025, SJVN, with active community participation, organized a series of impactful activities. These included cleanliness and plantation drives, menstrual hygiene awareness sessions, promotion of sustainable practices, campaigns against single-use plastic, hygiene and waste management workshops, river cleaning initiatives, expert talks, rallies, Nukkad Nataks, and school competitions.
SJVN’s continued recognition in the Swachhta Pakhwada Awards underscores its commitment to sustainability and its vision of contributing to a cleaner, healthier future for the nation.
