Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the process of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiated by the Election Commission of India (ECI) has become a means of creating fake votes.

Citing thousands of duplicate votes from the same address in Mahoba and Noida, Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP of land grabbing and disturbing law and order.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s state headquarters on Wednesday, he anticipated that the SIR would be implemented nationwide even as more than 4,000 votes were found in Mahoba from the same address while hundreds of duplicate votes were also found in Noida.

He said that the Samajwadi Party had complained about this, but the election commission did not take cognizance of the complaint. He alleged that the government was using the commission as a “jugaad commission” to create fake votes for the party.

He alleged that the BJP has machines installed at polling booths to make fake Aadhaar cards to enable fake voters to cast their votes on election day. “We have told our workers to work together, protect their votes, and prevent fraudulent voting,” he said.

Referring to Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur, Akhilesh Yadav said, “The BJP and its allies are trying to grab valuable land. They have no qualms about indulging in such fraudulent deals even on the sacred land of Ayodhya.”

He said that the BJP is busy appeasing its own people. The Plassio Mall and Kisan Bazaar, built during the Samajwadi Party government in Lucknow, were sold. The BJP’s deputy chief minister even wrote a letter regarding corruption. That letter is still available. It will be investigated when the Samajwadi Party government comes to power in the state.”

On the law and order situation prevailing in the state, he said before 2022, a businessman from Kanpur was murdered by the police. Now, in Gorakhpur, a young man, who would have become a doctor and a support for his family, was killed. No one can see that picture.

Citing another Gorakhpur incident, he said, “Last night, I started receiving messages that an officer had gone to Gorakhpur. I inquired in the morning and came to know that there was no encounter. The encounter happened while our press conference was underway. What was the need for an encounter? What was your police doing? What was the police officer doing in the chief minister’s home district,” he asked.

He said, “They (the BJP) were talking of legal and illegal slaughter houses. The issue remained unresolved after nine years.”

Regarding the evacuation of the SP office in Pilibhit, he said, “If you’re demolishing our party office, demolish it. But if you’ve built something by occupying the large spaces built by the Samajwadi Party, then the same bulldozer that demolished our office will also destroy their memorial.”
