In South Sikkim, a shared traveller returning from a wedding celebration met with a devastating crash on the Jorethang-Siliguri route.
According to authorities, the vehicle was carrying 11 passengers early Sunday morning when it collided head-on with a parked truck on the roadside. The impact was so severe that three passengers. The police identified them as Brij Mohan Prasad, Arjun Kumar Gupta, Raj Gupta. They lost their lives instantly. The remaining passengers including the driver survived with minor injuries.
Officials confirmed that the experienced driver was sober at the time. Initial reports suggest no negligence on his part. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the crash.
The joyous occasion of a wedding turned into tragedy for the families of the victims.

Meanwhile hundreds of kilometres away in Allagadda in Andhra Pradesh, another tragic accident shook commuters on NH-40 near Perayipalli Mitta. A lorry collided with a private bus carrying 33 passengers from Hyderabad to Puducherry.
Two passengers Badrinath and Haritha died on the spot. Eight others suffered serious injuries. Emergency services rushed the critically injured to Nandyal Government Hospital. Remaining others were treated at Allagadda Government Hospital.
Police launched rescue operations immediately after being alerted. For now, they have managed to control the chaos and ensure timely medical attention for the injured.
