Shillong Teer

Every weekday afternoon, a small crowd gathers at the Polo Ground in Shillong, Meghalaya, watching archers take aim at a target. What looks like a simple archery session is actually one of the most followed daily events in the region. This is Shillong Teer, a game where traditional archery meets a lottery, and where thousands of people across Meghalaya and beyond wait for two numbers to change their day. Run by the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association (KHASA), the game has been a part of daily life in Shillong for decades. On May 12, 2026, the draws are underway once again.

How the winning number is decided

The process is simple. Archers shoot arrows at a target in two separate rounds at the Polo Ground in Shillong. Officials count the total number of arrows that hit the target. The last two digits of that count become the winning number for that round.

For example, if 324 arrows hit the target, the winning number is 24, which is exactly what Shillong Morning Teer produced in its First Round today.
