As the PNB fraud case is getting murkier each day, the Congress has sharpened its attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “continued silence” on issues critical to the country.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi slammed PM Modi over his “silence” on the multi-crore PNB bank fraud. He asked where the “country’s watchman” was when jeweller Nirav Modi fled the country like liquor baron Vijay Mallya did.
Gandhi took the swipe at the Prime Minister for his refrain during poll rallies that he would act as a watchman for the country, and cited his “na khaoonga, na khaane doonga” (will neither do nor allow anyone to do corruption) statement.
“First Lalit (Modi) and then (Vijay) Mallya, now Nirav (Modi) also fled the country. Where is the country’s watchman who claimed ‘na khaoonga, na khaane doonga’ (Will neither do nor allow anyone to do corruption)? The public is longing to know the reason of ‘saheb’s’ silence. His silence screams out loud who is he loyal to?” the Congress chief asked in a tweet in Hindi.
Earlier, Congress President had also said, “PM Modi tells kids how to pass exams for 2 hrs, but won’t speak for 2 mins on the 22,000Cr banking scam. Mr Jaitley is in hiding. Stop behaving as if you’re guilty! Speak up”.
Gandhi was referring to PM Modi’s interaction with students during ‘Pariksha pe Charcha’ on 16 February.
