After an encounter, a team of Special Cell of the Delhi Police arrested a sharp shooter of infamous Jitender Gogo-Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who was carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head.

The accused has been identified as Rajesh, 41, a resident of Sonipat, Haryana. He was wanted in nine cases of murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping for ransom, robbery and Arms Act.

The police were searching for him in a case of double-murder of Mundka area, Outer Delhi. One pistol along with four cartridges has been recovered from the accused.

Further on his instance two other criminals, involved in a contract killing with Rajesh have also been apprehended with two country made pistols.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, Rajiv Ranjan Singh said that a team of Special Cell, Northern Range, under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ved Parkash, has arrested the accused after an encounter.

According to the police official, in the light of ongoing tussle between some of the infamous gangs of Delhi-NCR, the Special Cell was tasked to apprehend wanted criminals of these gangs.

During the ongoing process, a team of Special Cell identified certain hide outs of accused Rajesh and Ankit, both residents of Sonipat, Haryana. In the past three months, the dedicated team raided a number of suspected hideouts and eventually laid a trap in Alipur area for the arrest of the accused on specific inputs.

As Rajesh reached the area at around 10.20 pm, the police team surrounded him and warned him to surrender. However, the accused whipped out his pistol and started firing at the police party in a bid to flee.

During the firing one bullet hit the bullet proof jacket of Head Constable Ramjas. Despite firing, the police team proceeded further and apprehended the culprit with his weapon after a brief scuffle.

Rajesh further disclosed that on the instructions of Dinesh Karalia and Ankesh Mundka from jail to eliminate certain targets in Alipur area, he roped in Rajbir and Sanjay.

On his instance, police laid a trap and arrested Rajbir Singh and Sanjay Singh from Grand Trunk (GT) Road, Delhi.

During the interrogation, the accused disclosed that in 2016, Rajesh along with his other associates murdered jeweler Dhannu Jain, in Agra for a contract of Rs 10 crore.
