The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the award of police medals for the year 2025, with 17 officers and personnel from Jharkhand police figuring in the list. The decorations, announced on the eve of Independence Day, include Gallantry Medals, the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, and the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Five personnel have been awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry: Sub-Inspector Vinay Kumar, Head Constable Pramod Kumar Rai, Constable Ved Prakash Mahato, Constable Ramchandra Kumar Mahato, and Constable Krishna Murmu.
The President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service has been conferred on Havildar Kailash Kumar.
The Police Medal for Meritorious Service has been awarded to 11 officers and personnel: Anuranjan Kispotta, IPS (currently DIG, Kolhan), Inspector Asit Kumar Modi, Deputy Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Roy, Havildar Vijay Kumar Thapa, Constable Videshi Manjhi, Constable Ajay Kumar Dubey, Havildar Ranjita Kujur, Assistant Sub-Inspector Deepak Punj, Assistant Sub-Inspector Mahendra Mahato, Constable Pushpa Oriya, and Constable Deepak Kumar Singh.
The Ministry of Home Affairs confers these honours annually upon personnel from the police, fire service, home guards, civil defence, and correctional service for acts of valour, distinguished service, and meritorious performance. This year, a total of 1,090 medals will be presented nationwide, comprising 233 Gallantry Medals, 99 President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service, and 758 Police Medals for Meritorious Service.
