Five pharmacists and two officials have been suspended with immediate effect after an inquiry uncovered serious irregularities at various stores of the Central Procurement Agency (CPA), the Delhi government said on Saturday.
The action follows an investigation that reportedly detected major lapses in the procurement, storage and management of medicines.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said corruption and administrative negligence would not be tolerated under her government under any circumstances.
Reiterating the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, Gupta said strict action would be taken against any officer or employee found guilty of corruption, negligence or administrative irregularities.
She emphasised that ensuring accountability in matters concerning public welfare remains one of her government’s highest priorities and that action against erring officials would continue without exception.
The Chief Minister said the government is committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in public administration and has adopted a firm stance against corruption and procedural lapses.
Since assuming office, the Rekha Gupta-led government has carried out several administrative reshuffles and ordered investigations across multiple departments to improve governance and strengthen institutional accountability.
The Chief Minister has also been conducting regular surprise inspections of government departments. During these visits, she has ordered immediate disciplinary action wherever irregularities have been detected and directed officials to implement corrective measures to improve service delivery and administrative efficiency.
Whether in the health, taxation or other departments, officials found allegedly involved in corrupt practices have faced disciplinary action, while steps have been initiated to strengthen systems and enhance accountability.
The government is also working to introduce robust institutional mechanisms across departments to minimise the scope for irregularities and improve transparency.
Gupta’s public grievance hearings at her official residence have also emerged as an effective platform for identifying administrative lapses in both public and private institutions.
According to the government, the initiative has helped bring citizens’ concerns to the fore and facilitated the timely resolution of several public grievances.
