Seven of a family killed as car falls into nullah near Jaipur

As many as seven people were killed when the car they were returning home in skidded off the road and fell into a nullah on the outskirts of Jaipur on the Tonk Jaipur Highway.

The accident took place post midnight last night near Shivdaspura. However, it was noticed by a boy on Sunday afternoon. The boy saw the overturned car in the nullah with the bodies of seven of its occupants and informed the Shivdaspura police station, the police and eyewitnesses, said.

The victims – three men, two women and two children – were returning from Haridwar after immersing ashes of their kin into the Ganga river. The police were yet to ascertain the situation that led to the mishap. However, preliminarily it appeared that the driver somehow lost control of the car and it turned turtle, hit the road divider, and plunged into the nullah.

The bodies of the victims were taken to the Mahatma Gandhi Medical College Hospital for postmortem. The deceased hailed from the Shahpura area on the Jaipur Delhi Highway.
