Bihar Police have busted a “solver gang” allegedly involved in the NEET-UG 2026 examination and arrested seven people from across the state.

Police investigations have revealed that the racket was allegedly being operated from the Vardhman Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), Pawapuri, in Nalanda district.

Ujjwal Raj alias Raja Babu, a 2022-batch student of VIMS, has been identified as a key suspect and the alleged mastermind of the solver gang linked to the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case. He is currently absconding.

Rajgir DSP Sunil Kumar Singh said the police had been on alert across the district during the NEET examination period. During a vehicle-checking drive, police intercepted two suspicious vehicles. During questioning, one of the occupants identified himself as a second-year MBBS student Awadhesh Kumar. His accomplice is Aman Kumar Singh. Additionally, a third individual named Pankaj Kumar has been arrested.

A search of the vehicles led to the recovery of cash, following which all the suspects were brought to the police station for interrogation. Examination of their mobile phones revealed several incriminating clues, including admit cards related to NEET and other examinations, details of money transactions, and suspicious chats.

“We have seized mobile phones and laptops containing chats that reveal the money transaction trail. The devices also contain information related to students of other medical colleges. However, we have not found any question paper or guess paper on the phones,” Singh said.

As part of the investigation, the police carried out raids at the boys’ hostel of VIMS and searched Room No. 502, allegedly occupied by Ujjwal Kumar alias Raja Babu, who is believed to be a key member of the solver gang. The team also conducted an intensive search of Room No. 110, belonging to 2024-batch medical student Avdhesh Kumar.

So far, seven people, including Avdhesh Kumar, have been arrested in the case, while Ujjwal Kumar alias Raja Babu remains absconding. Police teams are continuing raids to trace him.

Following interrogation, all the accused were sent to jail. Investigating agencies are now expected to question them on remand and examine the recovered documents.

Investigators are also trying to identify other individuals allegedly linked to the network.
