Senior BJP leader and the party’s National Council Member Sanjay Tandon has welcomed the approval granted by Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria for allowing need-based changes in dwelling units under the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB).
Describing the decision as a significant pro-people step, Tandon said it has been a long-pending demand of thousands of residents living in CHB housing units across the city. He noted that families residing in these houses have, over the years, faced practical space and structural constraints due to changing family needs, making such reforms both necessary and timely.
In a statement, Tandon said that the approval will bring immense relief and cheer to residents who had been seeking flexibility to undertake essential modifications in their homes in accordance with evolving requirements.
He added that the decision reflects the sensitive and responsive approach of the UT Administration towards addressing genuine public concerns.
Appreciating the leadership of the UT Administrator, the BJP leader said that the Administration under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to remain responsive to the needs, hopes and aspirations of the people of Chandigarh. He emphasized that the governance today is increasingly focused on improving citizens’ quality of life and ensuring practical solutions to everyday challenges.
He also expressed gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah for giving special attention to Union Territories like Chandigarh and for consistently supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing people’s ease of living. He said that such forward-looking decisions demonstrate the Centre’s commitment to citizen-centric urban governance and planned development.
He expressed confidence that the move will not only improve living conditions for CHB residents but will also strengthen public trust in transparent and people-oriented administration.
Tandon also reiterated BJP’s commitment to working closely with the Administration to ensure that policies and decisions continue to benefit residents and contribute towards making Chandigarh an even more livable and citizen-friendly city.
