Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday took an apparent dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav, saying that there are “two namoone” in the country who run away whenever there is any discussion in the country.

Speaking in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly on the issue of codeine cough syrup, CM Adityanath dismissed the Opposition’s charge, saying there have been no deaths in the state due to the consumption of codeine cough syrups.

“No deaths have occurred from codeine cough syrup inside Uttar Pradesh. Action will be taken in this matter in accordance with the NBPS….There are “two namoone” inside the country, one sitting in Delhi and one in Lucknow. Whenever any discussion happens in the country, they immediately flee the country,” Adityanath said.

However, reacting to his remarks, Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav flipped the jibe on its head with a rejoinder. Yadav said that the remarks were an “open admission” of an internal discord within the BJP.

“Self-Acceptance! No one expected the Delhi-Lucknow feud to escalate to this point. People holding constitutional positions should at least maintain some public decorum among themselves and not cross the bounds of propriety. BJP folks should not bring their party’s internal discord out in the open. If someone takes offense somewhere, you might have to backtrack,” Yadav said.

Akhilesh has long been claiming an internal rift between Yogi Adityanath and the BJP’s central leadership.

Earlier this year, Yadav had taken a swipe at this alleged discord, referring to a purported viral video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Adityanath where the duo apparently ignored each other.

“Since the Lok Sabha loss in Uttar Pradesh, someone is not greeting somebody, that’s the pain you have. We saw the video where no one is greeting each other, and no one is looking at each other. And those who called themselves very powerful are not able to remove the one who was the reason behind the defeat,” he had said.
