Security has been tightened outside the Embassy of Nepal in the national capital as the neighboring country witnessed widespread protest and violence over corruption.

The presence of an increased number of police personnel was witnessed outside the embassy, while reports of violent protests emerged from Nepal amid Nepal Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli’s resignation.

As per reports, the protestors also targeted the residences of political leaders and ministers in Nepal.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs has also issued an advisory stating, “In view of the developing situation in Nepal, Indian citizens are advised to defer travel there until the situation has stabilized. Indian citizens presently in Nepal are advised to shelter in their current places of residence, avoid going out onto the streets and exercise all due caution. They are also advised to follow local safety advisories from Nepal authorities as well as the Embassy of India in Kathmandu. In case of any assistance required, please call the Embassy of India, Kathmandu.”

It was on Monday that the situation in the neighboring country reportedly turned grim with thousands of young protesters taking to the streets of Kathmandu, and staged demonstrations against the social media ban and other issues.

Videos doing rounds on social media showcased as to how protesters broke police barricades, and hurled stones at security personnel.
