Security forces kill 2 terrorists, Pakistan Rangers damage temple in Jammu

The Indian Army killed two armed terrorists in the Machhal sector of North Kashmir and thwarted an infiltration bid on Saturday .

Defence spokesman, Colonel Rajesh Kalia, said that the two terrorists were trying to infiltrate through the Line of Control (LOC) when they were detected by the soldiers and gunned down in a brief encounter.

Warlike stores of arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession.

In an another incident, Pakistan Rangers on Saturday morning targeted a Hindu temple with mortars and damaged it in the Arnia sector of the Jammu district.

According to the police, two residential houses and three cowsheds in the village along the international border were also damaged due to shelling.

Three cattle perished and an equal number were injured as the mortars landed on cowsheds.

Pakistan Rangers resorted to unprovoked shelling at Sai and Treva, Jabowal villages in the Arnia sector.

A Border Security Force (BSF) spokesman said that from mid-night till morning there was exchange of fire and shelling in Arnia Sector in area of 6-8 Border Observation Posts (BOPs) of BSF but no human loss or injury were reported.

The exchange stopped at 6.45 am.

A BSF jawan was killed on Friday when a bullet fired from a Pakistan post hit his abdomen. Four Pakistanis were killed when BSF retaliated the fire.
