In a bid to strictly monitor academic activities and the state of discipline in schools in rural areas, field officers of the education department are asked to ensure night halts in villages at least four times a month.
According to a spokesman of the Education Directorate (Bikaner), the principal block elementary education officers(PEEOs) and all field officers above this rank are required to have a compulsory night halt in villages under their charge, at least four times every month.
The officers will have to ensure a minimum 12-hour night stay from 06:00 PM to 06:00 AM the next morning, and during the stay they are supposed to have physical inspection visits to the school to review the arrangement for regular classes, the state of basic amenities, and the infrastructure structure facilities, the spokesman said.
The camping officers will also interact with the teachers and students and also hold meetings with parents and local denizens to seek feedback from them.
The initiative was introduced and enforced by School Education Minister Madan Dilawar in April earlier this year. However, it did not evoke the desired response from the education department field cadre.
Taking cognisance of the poor response, the School Education Director earlier this month has yet again directed all the Joint Directors at the divisional level and Chief District Education Officers at the district level to ensure strict compliance with the orders.
