School Ceiling Collapse in Rajasthan’s Piplodi: 6 officers suspended, JEN terminated

As many as six officers of the education department have been suspended in the aftermath of the government school ceiling collapse in Rajasthan’s Piplodi (Jhalawar) that left seven children dead and 27 injured.

The information was shared by Education Minister Madan Dilawar in an X post on Sunday night.

The Minister wrote : “Elementary Education Officer Narso Meena, Chief Block Education Officer Pramod Kumar Balasoria, Former Chief Block Education Officer Chandra Shekhar Lohar, Manohar-Thana Panchayat Education Officer (Elementary) Prabhu Lal Carpenter, then Panchayat Education (Elementary) officer Radhey Shyam Meena and an Assistant Engineer in the Samagra Shiksha project, Jhalawar have been placed under suspension in view of pending probe in the tragic ceiling collapse.”

Besides this, the service of a contractual Junior Engineer in Manohar-Thana has been terminated.

Five teachers of the damaged school were suspended on the eventful Friday itself. The School principal was also removed and kept awaiting posting orders (APO).

“Our government in Rajasthan is committed to ensuring the safety and security of school children/students”, the Education Minister added.

Meanwhile, the department has cancelled leaves of all officers and subordinate staff in the department to ensure their maximum possible availability at the hour of need in the rainy season.
The roof of the school building gave way during the school’s morning prayers at 8.30 am on Friday. Over 30 students were trapped but were eventually pulled out of the rubble.

The people and various organisations have still been demonstrating their anguish and protest against the tragic incident, holding the school authorities and the government system responsible for the tragedy in Piplodi village of Jhalawar district.

A large number of activists of the National Student Union of India (NSUI) on Monday held a demonstration at the District Collectorate in Ajmer.
