Following the Supreme Court’s verdict upholding the SIR-related process in Bihar, the BJP and JD(U) launched sharp attacks on Opposition leaders, accusing them of spreading confusion and mistrust over constitutional institutions for political gain.

BJP Bihar President Sanjay Saraogi and National Spokesperson of Janata Dal (United) Rajeev Ranjan Prasad said the ruling has validated the Election Commission’s constitutional authority and exposed the opposition’s allegations as politically motivated.

The BJP State President said that the Court’s ruling has made it clear that the Election Commission’s process is completely within the constitutional framework and is linked to ensuring free and fair elections. The decision sends a clear message to those who have continuously questioned the electoral process and constitutional institutions for political gain.

He said that Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav should now explain to the people of Bihar on what basis they tried to create an atmosphere of confusion, distrust, and suspicion regarding the Election Commission’s process. The Supreme Court’s decision has proven that the Election Commission’s powers and procedures are legally valid and constitutional.

The BJP leader said that some Opposition leaders have repeatedly tried to gain political advantage by questioning constitutional institutions. Whenever decisions do not align with their political interests, attempts are made to cast doubt on the impartiality and credibility of democratic institutions. He said this tendency goes against the spirit of democracy and the Constitution.

Sanjay Saraogi further stated that while everyone has the right to express disagreement in a democracy, attacking the credibility of constitutional institutions without facts or basis cannot be considered appropriate. Politics aimed at misleading the public and creating a political atmosphere weakens democracy.

Meanwhile, JD(U) Spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad said in his statement that the Supreme Court has clarified the situation regarding the SIR process and has upheld it as valid.

He added that after the Supreme Court’s decision, the Opposition should stop raising questions over the SIR process. According to him, the Court’s ruling has silenced the opposition on the issue of SIR.
