Satish Golcha appointed Delhi Commissioner of Police day after attack on CM Gupta

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Thursday appointed senior IPS officer Satish Golcha as new Commissioner of Police. He will replace SBK Singh, Director General (DG) of Home Guards, who was given the additional charge of the Delhi Police Commissioner at the start of this month.

“With the approval of the Competent Authority, Sh. Satish Golcha, IPS (AGMUT:1992), presently posted as Director General (Prisons), Delhi, is hereby appointed to the post of the Commissioner of Police, Delhi with effect from the date of assumption of charge and until further orders,” an MHA order dated August 21 said.

The development came a day after Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked by a Gujarati man at her camp office in the Civil Lines area during a weekly public hearing.

Following the attack, CM Gupta’s security has also been upgraded to Z category. She will now be protected by a team of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
