On the solemn occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Vice-President of India, CP Radhakrishnan, and Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, paid floral tributes to the Iron Man of India at the Central Hall of Samvidhaan Sadan. The event, held to commemorate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), was marked by the presence of several dignitaries including Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, who also paid homage to the stalwart leader.

In a key highlight of the day, Lok Sabha Speaker engaged with over 600 students from across the country participating in the “Know Your Leader” programme organized by PRIDE within the Samvidhaan Sadan. Addressing the enthusiastic gathering, Birla underscored the significance of Sardar Patel’s vision and values as guiding beacons for India’s youth, who are now propelling the nation towards the goal of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) through innovation, science, technology, and leadership.

Birla reflected on Sardar Patel’s enduring legacy of unity and discipline, emphasizing that these principles continue to inspire young Indians to work selflessly for the nation’s progress. “The world’s growing confidence in India is a tribute to the hard work, creativity, and commitment of our youth,” he stated, highlighting their role in building not only a stronger nation but also a more equitable and prosperous global community.

Commending the remarkable achievements of young Indians, Birla pointed out their leadership in cutting-edge arenas such as artificial intelligence, digital technology, space research, green energy, and innovation. These accomplishments, he noted, mirror a forward-looking nation that harmoniously blends its rich cultural heritage with modern advancements, reshaping every sector from science and entrepreneurship to diplomacy and governance.

The Speaker further remarked that today, India stands as a beacon of hope, progress, and stability on the global stage, powered by the energy and determination of its youth. He recalled Sardar Patel’s visionary leadership in politically unifying the country and strengthening its administrative framework. With courage, foresight, and statesmanship, Patel integrated hundreds of princely states into a single union, ensuring that India emerged as a united and sovereign nation post-independence.

Highlighting the transformative impact of Sardar Patel’s leadership, Birla said, “He translated the spirit of freedom into the framework of governance, enabling India to stand firmly as a democracy rooted in strength and inclusivity.”

He added that Patel’s ideals of unity, order, discipline, and service retain their relevance in today’s knowledge-driven and technologically advanced world.

Looking ahead, Birla emphasized that the 21st century belongs to nations investing in their youth, asserting that India’s demographic dividend is its greatest strategic strength. The country is witnessing an unprecedented surge in creativity, enterprise, and scientific excellence, guided by a generation whose innovative spirit and dedication to social good are redefining India’s global narrative.

As India assumes a larger role internationally, Birla expressed confidence that its youth will continue to lead in shaping policies, developing technologies, and forging partnerships that contribute to the welfare of humanity.

The event served not only as a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s monumental contributions but also as a celebration of the vibrant potential of India’s youth, poised to carry forward his legacy of unity and nation-building into the future.
