As a member of the Finance Committee, Tandon participated in detailed deliberations on key public welfare initiatives and financial matters concerning the Red Cross Society in Punjab.
According to him, one of the major decisions taken during the meeting was to intensify efforts to open more Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the state. The initiative aims to ensure that the general public has access to affordable medicines, in line with the Government of India’s push to promote cost-effective generic drugs. Emphasis was also laid on encouraging the use of generic medicines for the common man.
The committee also appreciated the proactive outreach undertaken by Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, who has been visiting districts across Punjab, particularly in the border belt, to raise awareness about the growing drug menace and to educate people on preventive measures and control mechanisms.
Another significant point of appreciation during the meeting was the commendable role played by the Punjab Red Cross Society in providing relief and assistance during the recent floods in the state.
Speaking after the meeting, Tandon highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts in healthcare accessibility and social awareness, reaffirming the commitment to public welfare and community support initiatives in Punjab.
