Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Monday announced that the much-awaited “Give us jobs, give us social justice” march will be held from the Saryu River in Ayodhya to the Sangam River in Prayagraj from November 12 to 24.
In a press conference here, Singh said the march would transform into a mass movement against two of the most serious issues facing Uttar Pradesh —unemployment and social injustice. “The theme song for the march, “Main Desh Bachane Nikal Hoon,” is sung by renowned singer Altamash Faridi, with lyrics written by renowned poet and writer Bilal Bhai,” He said, adding that the song that conveys the suffering of the youth and common people of UP will inspire them to raise their voice for their rights.
The RS member said if there is any state in the country with the highest unemployment, it is UP. Not only is there a shortage of government jobs, but farmers, weavers, and those involved in cottage and small industries are also struggling with economic crisis and lack of employment. “Farmers don’t get fair prices for their crops, die in fertilizer lines, and are forced to commit suicide due to debt burden. Asha workers, Anganwadi workers, Shiksha Mitras, and instructors — all are still awaiting regularization.”
The AAP MP also said there is widespread inequality in the education sector, from the reservation scam in the recruitment of teachers from Saryu river to Sangam from November 12 on demand to the mandatory TET exam. Small industries are closing down, and the youth are facing a severe employment crisis.
Speaking on the second major issue of the march, Sanjay Singh said Uttar Pradesh also tops the country in social discrimination and injustice. “Even today, incidents of discrimination against Dalits are being reported in temples, weddings, and public places. Reservation manipulation is commonplace. From the police station to the tehsil, no door is open for justice,” he alleged.
Singh contended that the yatra is not merely a political event, but a fight for public rights. “If you are suffering from unemployment and social injustice, come out between November 12 and 24 to raise your issues—we will all march together, from the Saryu to the Sangam,” he made an appeal to the people.
He said a large number of youth, farmers, teachers, and people from all sections of society from various districts of UP are expected to participate in the yatra. During the yatra, he would go among the public with data related to the situation in different areas of the state—education, health, employment, and social justice—and will communicate with them on a daily basis.
