Sanjay Raut, Rajya Sabha MP and chief spokesperson for the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, criticised the BJP over the alleged theft of crores of rupees from the donation box of Ayodhya’s Ram temple.

He said, “We will go to Ayodhya and tell the people that the country is not a kingdom of Lord Ram but is run by thieves. We want to register a case in the matter, but the CCTV footage of the theft has been stolen.”

Speaking at a press conference here on Friday, Raut said, “So far, Rs 5 crores have been embezzled from the donation box of Shri Ram in the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Who would dare to touch the donation box of the Ram temple in Ayodhya? You (the BJP) used to say that the temple was under threat from terrorists. Who then are the terrorists who stole money from the donation box? How will you catch them now that the CCTV footage has disappeared?”
