The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Sabarimala gold heist case on Wednesday arrested former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) administrative officer S Sreekumar in connection with the theft of gold-plated sheets from the dwarapalaka sculptures at the temple.
Sreekumar was the administrative officer in 2019 when the gold plating from the Dwarapalaka sculptures at the Sabarimala temple was removed. He was arrested after being summoned to the Crime Branch office for questioning as part of the ongoing probe. Earlier, his anticipatory bail plea was dismissed by the Kerala High Court.
This is the seventh arrest in the case. After TDB’s former president K Padmakumar, was arrested, there was an allegation that the police had slowed down the probe in the wake of the local body polls.
