The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has begun a nationwide ‘Dhwaj Yatra’, travelling from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The organisation says the rally aims to address what it calls misconceptions about its history and ideology.

The campaign comes as the RSS prepares to mark 100 years of its existence. A film titled Shatak: Sangh Ke 100 Varsh was released on February 20, 2026, to commemorate the milestone.

Produced by Vir Kapur and co-produced by Pavan Sindhi, the film focuses on the organisation’s century-long journey. It is directed by Aashish Mall. The makers describe it as a tribute to volunteers who have worked with the RSS over the decades.

A teaser has already been released. It highlights the group’s evolution and internal discipline, along with its role in India’s social and cultural landscape. The soundtrack includes songs such as “Bharat Maa Ke Bacche” and “Bhagwa Hai Meri Identity”.

Organisers say both the yatra and the film are part of a broader effort to present what they describe as the RSS’s “true history”. Veer Kapoor, a participant in the yatra, said the aim was to counter “distorted versions” of the organisation’s past.

“The aim of this yatra is to clear the misgivings that the RSS is against some people. We also want to convey the real history to people, who have been fed the distorted version so far,” he said.

At a recent launch event, senior officials of the RSS Gujarat chapter and other guests formally unveiled the film. One official urged people to watch it in cinemas, saying it promotes unity and national integrity.

The release is expected to draw attention to the RSS’s role in India’s socio-political history and its place in contemporary public life.
