Royal family of Bhutan visits Ladakh, appreciates its scenic beauty and warmth of people

Her Majesty Queen Mother Ashi Tshering Pem Wangchuck and Her Royal Highness Princess Ashi Kesang Choden Wangchuck of Bhutan visited Ladakh on Tuesday, praising the region’s beauty, its stunning landscapes, and the warmth and affection of its people during a courtesy meeting with Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta and First Lady Bindu Gupta at Raj Niwas, Leh.

At the onset, Her Majesty thanked the Lt Governor and UT Administration for their hospitality during their stay in Ladakh. She informed the Lt Governor about the maiden official visit of the Royal Family of Bhutan to Ladakh and the places visited by them during their stay. She praised Ladakh’s beauty, its stunning landscapes, and the warmth and affection of the people.

The Lt Governor said that Ladakh deeply values its centuries-old cultural, spiritual, and economic ties with Bhutan. He extended gratitude to Her Majesty and Her Royal Highness for their visit and said that such exchanges will further strengthen people-to-people connections between Ladakh and Bhutan. Gupta also highlighted the shared Buddhist heritage that binds the two regions together and emphasised Ladakh’s commitment to preserving and promoting this ancient legacy.

The Lt Governor also highlighted various initiatives taken by the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the UT Administration for the development of Ladakh.

CEC of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Tashi Gyalsan, was also present in the meeting. The meeting concluded on a cordial note with both sides expressing hope for enhanced cultural and spiritual exchanges in the future.
