Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya has strongly dismissed speculation about her possible nomination as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), calling such reports baseless and politically motivated.
The speculation surfaced after Rohini Acharya was absent from the first birthday celebration of Tejashwi Yadav’s son Iraj in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where several members of the Lalu family and party leaders were present.
Media reports later claimed that RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, during his upcoming visit to Singapore for a health check-up, could attempt to persuade Rohini Acharya to return to active politics and potentially make her an MLC candidate.
Reacting sharply to the reports, Rohini Acharya took to X on Friday, and accused certain individuals of deliberately spreading rumours to damage her image.
In her post, she alleged that “people with malicious intentions” and those “colluding with opponents” were using sections of the media to spread false information regarding her possible candidature in the upcoming Legislative Council elections.
Rohini Acharya wrote, “Those with bad intentions will once again be exposed. A gang of infiltrators, conspirators, and people colluding with opponents is spreading rumours through some of their media friends that I will contest the upcoming Legislative Council elections.”
She further claimed that similar attempts had been made in the past to tarnish her reputation, but those claims had eventually been exposed as false. Rohini Acharya also referred to earlier rumours suggesting that her minor son and mother-in-law would contest Assembly elections, describing them as fabricated stories spread by the same group of people.
Reiterating her stand, Rohini Acharya said that false narratives and conspiracies would have no impact on her image. She maintained that she has always been known for speaking honestly and directly, without being influenced by greed or personal gain.
She wrote, “I want to make it clear to those spreading lies and false stories about me that none of their conspiracies or falsehoods will have any effect on me or my image. People know that I am someone who speaks directly and honestly, staying away from all kinds of greed and temptation. My opposition has always been against wrongdoing, and it will continue to remain so in the future.”
