‘Dirty kidney’, abuses and humiliation: Rohini’s bombshell on what transpired at Lalu’s after RJD’s Bihar drubbing

Following the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s (RJD) poll drubbing in Bihar, turmoil has erupted within the family of party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. His daughter Rohini Acharya, who on Saturday announced that she was quitting active politics and severing all ties with her family, alleged today that she was abused, humiliated in front of her parents, and forced out of her maternal home.

In two social media posts made within an hour, Rohini wrote: “Yesterday, a daughter, a sister, a married woman, a mother was humiliated with filthy abuses, and someone even picked up a slipper to hit me. I did not compromise on my self-respect, I did not surrender the truth, and only because of this I had to endure this humiliation.”

Without directly naming anyone, she said a daughter was forced to leave behind her crying parents and sisters. “I was made to give up my maternal home… I was made an orphan.”

She further claimed that she was called “dirty” and told that she had given her “dirty kidney” to her father Lalu Yadav in exchange for an election ticket.

“Yesterday, along with abuse, I was told that I am dirty, that I gave my ‘dirty kidney’ to my father, that I took crores of rupees, that I got a ticket and then gave that dirty kidney… To all daughters and sisters who are married, I want to say: if there is a son or brother in your mayka, then never — even by mistake — save your father, your God-like parent,” she wrote.

She continued: “Tell your brother, the son of that house, to donate his kidney, or ask some Haryanvi friend of his to donate one. All daughters and sisters should think only of their own homes and families. Without worrying about their parents, they should think only of their children, their work, their in-laws. Only about themselves.”

“I made a big mistake — that I didn’t think of my own family, my three children, that I didn’t take permission from my husband or my in-laws while donating the kidney…To save my God, my father, I did what is today being called dirty.”

She added: “May none of you ever repeat the mistake I made; may no house ever have a daughter like Rohini.”

Earlier on Saturday, Rohini had announced that she was quitting politics and severing all ties with her family. She also took the blame for the RJD’s dismal performance in the just-concluded Bihar Assembly Elections 2025.

“I’m quitting politics, and I’m disowning my family…This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do…and I’m taking all the blame,” she posted on X.

For context, Sanjay Yadav is an RJD leader and Rajya Sabha MP originally from Haryana. He is considered close to Tejashwi Yadav and plays a crucial role in shaping the RJD’s political and election strategy.

In the 2025 Assembly elections, the RJD was reduced to just 25 seats, while the NDA registered a landslide victory, winning 202 out of 243 seats. Tejashwi Yadav, who was the Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial face, has so far not reacted to the humiliating defeat.
