In a ripple effect stemming from developments in Karnataka and Supreme Court order to conduct floor test at 4pm on Saturday, Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav, along with leaders of RJD and Congress, on Friday met Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik and staked claim to form the government.

While talking to media, former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav said he met the Governor and submitted the letter seeking an invite to prove majority in the House as Rashtriya Janata Dal  (RJD) was the single largest party with the support of Congress, CPI(ML) and HAM(S).

While talking to media, former deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav said that he has met the Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik and has submitted the letter seeking an invite to prove majority in the House.

RJD leader Tejashwi also took to Twitter saying, “Met Governor of Bihar along with support of three other parties and staked claim to form government as we are single largest party & single largest block of pre poll alliance”.

The RJD was relegated to opposition in Bihar last year after the JD(U) walked away from the three-party alliance, which also involved the Congress, and joined hands with the BJP to form a new government under Nitish Kumar.

In the 243-member Bihar Assembly, the RJD is the single-largest party with 80 MLAs, while JD(U) has 71 legislators and the BJP has 53. NDA constituent LJP and Rashtriya Lok Samata Party have two seats each. The Congress has 27 MLAs.

Earlier in the day, Congress staked claim to form government in Goa and submitted a letter to state Governor Mridula Sinha, seeking an invite to prove majority in the House.
