Retired Odisha IFS officer gets 2-year jail term for corruption

A Special Vigilance Court on Monday convicted a retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer on corruption charges and sentenced him to undergo two years ‘ rigorous imprisonment, the Vigilance Directorate said.

Indian Forest Officer Amresh Kumar Jaiswal, who retired from service as Conservator of Forests was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case under sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for possessing disproportionate assets (DA) and was convicted by Special Judge, Special Court, Vigilance, Cuttack and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.50,000.

Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of pension of the retired IFS officer following his conviction, the Directorate in a statement concluded.
