The investigation into the Red Fort bomb blast has taken a new turn, with security agencies reaching Motilal Nehru Government Medical College in Prayagraj to examine the academic records and documents of Dr Shaheen Saeed, one of the key accused in the case.
According to sources here on Thursday, a team of security personnel arrived at the medical college late on Wednesday evening and reviewed several documents related to Dr Saeed’s time as a student there. Dr Shaheen Saeed, who was arrested in connection with the blast, is reported to have longstanding ties with the institution.
She had enrolled in the MBBS course at Motilal Nehru Government Medical College in 1996 and completed it in 2002 while residing in the girls’ hostel. Later, she pursued an MD in Pharmacology from the same college and, in 2006–07, joined Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial (GSV) Medical College in Kanpur as an assistant professor through the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission.
Investigating teams are said to be scrutinising old college records, admission forms, and hostel registers. They have also reached out to her former batchmates to gather information about her activities during her student years.
Although Dr Saeed has had no official association with Motilal Nehru Government Medical College since 2006, her old photographs—including one attached to her MBBS admission form and another taken with college friends—have recently come to light.
Sources within the investigating agencies have confirmed that, so far, no concrete evidence has emerged linking her activities during her medical college years to the recent terror plot. However, they emphasised that all aspects of her background are being closely examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
