Two days after the deadly bomb blast near Delhi’s Red Fort left at least 12 dead and over 20 others inured, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday convened an emergency meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) at his residence.
The CCS meeting to review the security situation following the bomb blast was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and other top officials.
National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of India, Ajit Doval was also present in the meeting that was underway at the time of writing this news report.
Earlier today, PM Modi visited the injured at the LNJP Hospital and inquired about their health condition.
After visiting the injured, Modi vowed that those behind the blast will be brought to justice.
“Went to LNJP Hospital and met those injured during the blast in Delhi. Praying for everyone’s quick recovery. Those behind the conspiracy will be brought to justice!,” the prime minister said in a post on X.
Will govt resume Operation Sindoor?
The CCS meeting comes amid speculations about the government’s response. After the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the government had squarely blamed Pakistan and launched Operation Sindoor in response.
The operation was put on hold after four days of intense fighting between India and Pakistan. However, at the time, the government had warned that the Operation Sindoor will resume if Pakistan tried to attack India.
The Red Fort blast is also being linked to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed terror group. The government has not officially blamed Pakistan, and maintains that an investigation will reveal who were behind it.
However, several reports citing unamed officials have claimed that the blast was linked to a ‘white collar’ terror module of the Jaish-e-Mohammed, which was busted by the Jammu and Kashmir police hours before the Red Fort attack.
Medical professionals were allegedly radicalised and recruited by their Pakistani handlers to carry out attacks in India.
