The Indian embassy in Doha has completed the repatriation of all 12 Indian nationals who lost their lives in the tragic industrial accident at Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar, while embassy officials also visited injured workers receiving treatment, highlighting the ongoing support efforts after the deadly incident.
In an update shared on X on Friday, the Indian embassy in Doha confirmed that the mortal remains of the remaining eight victims were sent back to India on June 26. Four mortal remains had already been repatriated on June 25.
“Mortal remains of 8 Indian nationals who unfortunately passed away in Ras Laffan accident have been repatriated to India on June 26. 4 out of 12 mortal remains had been repatriated on June 25,” the embassy said.

Embassy thanks Qatar authorities for support
The Indian embassy acknowledged the cooperation extended by Qatari authorities, Indian community organisations and government authorities in India during the repatriation process.
“Embassy of India, Doha thanks Qatari authorities, Indian community organisations and Government authorities in India for their prompt support.”
The embassy also shared an update on the condition of the injured workers, saying Ambassador and embassy officials met some of them at a hospital in Alkhor.
“Ambassador and Embassy officials also met some of the injured Indian nationals today in Alkhor. The injured have all received appropriate medical attention for which the Embassy thanks Qatari authorities and employer company representatives.”
Ras Laffan accident claimed multiple lives
The industrial accident at Ras Laffan Industrial City resulted in the deaths of several workers, including 12 Indian nationals. Authorities in India and Qatar coordinated efforts to provide medical assistance to injured workers and facilitate the return of the deceased.
According to the Qatari Ministry of Interior, 13 people died and 66 others were injured following a technical malfunction during an operation at a factory in Ras Laffan Industrial City. The ministry also expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.

PM Modi expresses solidarity with victims’ families
Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier thanked Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar, for his phone call and condolences following the loss of Indian nationals.
“I thank His Highness the Amir of Qatar for his phone call and condolences on the loss of lives of Indian nationals in the tragic accident at Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar. We both share the grief of the families who have lost their loved ones and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured,” PM Modi wrote on X.
He added that India and Qatar remain committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens and standing in solidarity with each other.
