Ramlila begins in Ayodhya today, Durga Puja from tomorrow

Ramlila, the enactment of the divine play of Lord Ram, has begun in Ayodhya, while

  • Durga Puja
  • begins tomorrow.

    All preparations have been completed after meetings of officials of the district administration, the Municipal Corporation, and the Central Durga Puja and Ramlila Committee. The Central Durga Puja and Ramlila Committee has requested Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to shower flowers from helicopters on the procession of Goddess Durga idols and the coronation procession of Lord Rama.

    According to officials here on Sunday, this year, Ramlila performances will be held at 180 locations in Ayodhya district, including urban and rural areas, and Goddess Durga idols will be installed in 2,154 pandals across the district.

    Vijay Gupta, patron of the Central Durga Puja and Ramlila Committee, stated that all preparations for the Ramlila performances and Durga Puja have been completed. The committee has held several meetings with the district administration and also with government departments involved in Durga Puja.

    He said sculptors from Kolkata are making Durga idols at many places in the district. One Swapan Pal, who makes idols, said that the idols have been given their final shape, and many Durga Puja committees have also taken their Maa Durga idols, and the work of installation of the idols is being done rapidly.

    Keshav Bigular, spokesperson of the Central Durga Puja and Ramlila Committee, said that on October 2, a grand procession will be taken out from the GIC ground and the idols will be immersed in Nirmali Kund. The procession covers a distance of 8 km and goes to Nirmali Kund of Guptar Ghat, and preparations are going on there too. He said that during inspection, it was found that the water level of Saryu in Nirmali Kund is only 1 foot.
